LIMITS

The fine print, in plain words.

Everything Fantomas cannot promise, in one place. No legal fog, just how things really work.

What Instagram decides

  • Unsend removes your messages for the people in the conversation. It cannot reach screenshots, forwarded copies or what Instagram keeps on its side.
  • Fantomas is independent and not supported by Instagram. Instagram’s terms restrict automated tools, and Instagram can limit or suspend an account that uses them. Fantomas acts only on your own items, in your own session, with pauses, but it cannot remove that risk.
  • Instagram sets its own limits and publishes none. Fantomas keeps pauses between actions, lets you choose a calmer rhythm or a daily limit, and stops as soon as Instagram asks. No tool can promise a restriction never happens, and buying a pass does not lift one.
  • If Instagram restricts actions on a profile, Fantomas pauses every category for that profile. You resume yourself, in the Prudent rhythm, from the end date Instagram gave or 24 hours later.

Daily limit and passes

  • A pass has no total limit, but each Instagram profile can make up to 3,000 removals a day, all categories together.
  • Why a daily limit? To protect your account. Tens of thousands of removals in a single day look unusual to Instagram and can get an account restricted. Fantomas spreads the work over several days for you. The limit lowers the risk without removing it.
  • You can set a lower daily limit in Settings, never a higher one.
  • Weeks and days follow UTC: the 70 free removals come back every Monday at 00:00 UTC, and the daily limit of a pass at midnight UTC.
  • The days of a pass run in a row from its first activation, whether you use Fantomas or not.

Fantomas Mode

It changes the order only: oldest messages first, newest last. People in the chat may still notice, and copies they kept stay with them.

Profiles

  • Free and passes cover the Instagram profiles you use yourself.
  • Free covers 1 profile. The 7-day pass covers 1 Instagram profile, the 14-day pass up to 3 and the 30-day pass up to 5. A profile added to a pass stays on it until the pass ends.
  • A pass counts profiles, not browsers: your key works in any of your browsers.
  • Switching from one Instagram session to another may ask you to sign in again before Fantomas goes on.

Likes, comments, reposts and story replies

  • Instagram must be set to English or French for these categories. Messages work in any language.
  • Fantomas uses Instagram's own period filter. It does not read the date of each item.
  • Counts reflect the removal commands sent to Instagram, group by group.

Staying up to date

  • The daily check comes with a pass, when you turn it on in Settings, and it only reads. It runs once a day while Chrome is open with the matching Instagram session and your computer is awake. A day with Chrome closed or the computer asleep is simply skipped.
  • Between cleanups, only messages are counted. Likes, comments, reposts and story replies show up again at your next cleanup.

Reports and backups

  • PDF reports are written in English. Names in non-Latin scripts may show as “?”.
  • Backups are ZIP files on your device and are not encrypted. Other apps may sync your downloads folder, so store them with care.
  • Reading a conversation to back it up can change its read state on Instagram.

Chrome and your computer

  • Fantomas works inside Chrome, with your Instagram session. Messages keep going while you use other tabs, as long as Chrome stays open and your computer awake.
  • Keep the Instagram tab in front while likes, comments, reposts or story replies are processed. Leaving it pauses them.
  • If Chrome closes or your computer goes to sleep, the work stops, Messages included. Nothing restarts on its own: resume it from Fantomas.
