Fantomas is a Chrome extension, on its way to the Chrome Web Store. The steps below apply once it is listed.
Once Fantomas is listed, choose “Download Extension” on this site to open it on the Chrome Web Store, then “Add to Chrome”.
Open instagram.com, sign in to your profile, then reload the tab once so Fantomas can finish connecting. If it asks, the panel says “Reload Instagram to finish connecting.”
The Fantomas button appears on the edge of the page. The toolbar icon also offers “Open Fantomas”, or “Open Instagram” when no Instagram tab is open.
The first time the panel opens, a short welcome asks how many Instagram profiles you want to clean and which options you would like, so Fantomas can suggest the pass that fits you. You can skip it; your answers stay in this browser.
Permissions serve Instagram only: reading your session to know which profile is signed in, acting in the Instagram tab, and saving backups or reports on your device.

The Fantomas panel
Click the button to open the panel over Instagram. The work itself runs in the extension, not in the panel.
Drag the button to any edge of the page. Right-click it for “Reset position” or “Hide for this tab”. With the keyboard: Alt and the arrows to move, Alt and Home to reset.
Move the panel by its top grip and resize it from the corner. The “−” button or Escape minimizes it; the button reopens it on the same view.
“My pass” opens from its icon at the top of the panel. The menu (⋮) opens Reports, Backups, Settings, Pricing and this guide. The Home button brings you back to the categories.
Closing or minimizing the panel does not stop a task. Messages keep going while you browse other tabs, as long as Chrome stays open and your computer awake; likes, comments, reposts and story replies need their Instagram tab to stay in front.
If your computer goes to sleep, the work stops, Messages included. Nothing restarts on its own: resume it from Fantomas when you are back.

No account needed
Fantomas uses the Instagram session already open in Chrome. There is no Fantomas account to create: no sign-up, no email, no password.
The “Sign in” card shows the Instagram profile open in this Chrome profile. You never type your Instagram password into Fantomas.
The first time you open Fantomas on a signed-in profile, an anonymous identity is created for you. Free needs no key: the profile open in Instagram is attached in “My pass” (Fantomas asks when needed) and gets 70 removals a week.
A pass comes as a license key by email. Paste it in “My pass” to activate it; the same key works in any of your browsers.
If the Instagram profile changes in Chrome, Fantomas returns to Home and suspends any running task until the right profile is back.
Home: the profile in use, what changed since the last cleanup, then the categories. Synthetic profile.Clean up
Choose what to clean
Start from Home: “What are you here to clean?” Pick one category. No full scan of every category is needed first.
Messages: choose “Open conversation” for the chat open in Instagram, or “All conversations”, with “Include message requests” if you want them.
“Detect conversations” lists your inbox. In “Select conversations”, search by name or username, filter by “Last activity” or “Message period”, sort by most recent, oldest activity or name, then select.
Likes, comments, reposts and story replies: set the “Period in Your activity”. Leave both dates empty for all history. Comments also offer a “Comment text” filter, applied on your device.
“Use this scope” confirms the period.
Search, sorting and selection. Synthetic conversations.Clean up
Scan before removing
For messages, the scan counts what is there before anything is removed. For interactions, items are selected as Instagram's list loads.
“Scan messages” reads each selected conversation from newest to oldest and counts “Total” and “Yours”, the messages you can unsend. Calls are left out.
“Limit per conversation” caps how many of your messages are selected in each conversation. Leaving it blank means no limit for the scan. It is separate from your free removals or your pass's daily limit, which still apply.
A message without a readable date makes the scan partial. A period with a start date leaves it out; an “Older than” period keeps it.
With several conversations, “Skip to next conversation” keeps the pages already verified. Stopping a scan keeps what was verified so far.
A conversation scanned, Total and Yours counted. Synthetic data.Clean up
Scan memory
Fantomas remembers what each scan covered: identifiers, dates and counts, never message text. The next scan can start from there.
When a saved scan exists, “Scan” offers three choices. “Refresh changes” (default) reads only what changed since the last scan.
“Use saved scan” reads nothing again for conversations already scanned, only those never scanned. “Start from scratch” reads everything again.
Messages that disappeared outside Fantomas are counted as “gone outside Fantomas”. A scan older than 7 days is marked as old data.
A new full scan replaces the saved one only once it is complete.
The Saved scan dialog, then a refresh of what changed. Synthetic data.Clean up
Start the removal
Removal always starts from your own click. For messages, a confirmation shows exactly what will go; for interactions, “Scan and delete” is that click.
Messages: “Unsend saved analysis” opens “Confirm unsend” with the profile, the conversations, the exclusions, the period, the order and an estimated time. Type UNSEND to confirm.
“Manage conversations (X/N)” sets the order and excludes conversations before you confirm.
Fantomas unsends one message at a time, with a random delay set by the removal rhythm: Standard waits 5 to 7 seconds and takes a long break every 500 removals. “Rhythm of this operation” changes it for one run.
With several conversations, a pass moves to the next one on its own. Free waits for “Continue to next conversation”.
Interactions: “Scan and delete” selects each group, removes it with Instagram's confirmation, reloads the same tab and continues until nothing is left in the period.
Your free removals or your pass's daily limit are checked on our server before each removal.
The Confirm unsend dialog, then a run in progress with its countdown. Synthetic data.Clean up
New since your last cleanup
After a Messages cleanup, Home shows “Since your last cleanup” with its date, its conversations and three separate numbers.
New: your messages dated after the cleanup started. While some conversations are not checked yet, it reads “At least N new”.
Discovered: messages seen for the first time, dated before the cleanup, in parts earlier scans had not reached.
Left from the previous cleanup: messages that were selected but neither removed nor already gone.
“Refresh” only reads, and it gives way to any task you start. “Review what's new” prepares a cleanup for you to confirm.
With a pass, “Keep my footprint updated” runs this check once a day for you while Chrome is open and your computer awake.
The Home card, then “Review what's new” and its ready selection. Synthetic data.Categories
Messages
Fantomas uses Instagram's own unsend action for the messages your profile sent. When it succeeds, they are removed for everyone in the conversation.
Before unsending, you can keep a local copy: the offer “A copy before cleanup.” with “Backup” or “Ignore”. Free saves your own messages; a pass saves the whole conversation, other participants included.
“Message filters” narrows the scanned messages to a period without scanning again.
Unsend saved analysis, the optional local copy, the typed confirmation, then the run. Synthetic data.Categories
Likes
Fantomas removes your likes from Instagram's “Your activity” page, with Instagram's own “Select” and “Unlike” controls.
Dates come from Instagram's own period filter. Fantomas does not read the date of each like, so the period you set is the one Instagram applies.
Choose “Items per group”: 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100. Fantomas checks that many likes, removes them together, then continues.
Instagram must be set to English or French for likes, comments, reposts and story replies.

Comments
Fantomas deletes the comments and replies you wrote, from “Your activity”, with Instagram's own “Delete” control.
The optional “Comment text” filter keeps only comments containing your words. It runs on your device.
If Instagram shows the list in a format Fantomas does not recognize, it stops before clicking anything: “Nothing was withdrawn.”

Reposts
Fantomas removes the reposts your profile made, from the Reposts list in “Your activity”, with Instagram's own “Delete” control.
Reposts are not stories or private shares. Replies to stories have their own category.
The category works when Instagram shows a Reposts list for your profile on the web. If the list cannot be recognized, nothing is removed.

Story replies
Fantomas deletes the replies you sent to stories, from “Your activity”, with Instagram's own “Delete” control.
Fantomas checks that Instagram's confirmation is about replies before it confirms.
If the list format is not recognized, Fantomas stops: “Nothing was withdrawn.”
Story replies processed by groups, played faster. Synthetic data.Control
Pause, stop and resume
Every run has Pause, Resume and Stop. Nothing restarts on its own: not when Chrome opens again, nor when your computer wakes up.
Pause: an action already sent may finish; no new one is sent. Resume is always your choice. While a run is paused, the mascot on the Fantomas button stands still.
“Skip to next conversation” (messages) ends the current conversation and moves on.
Stop (interactions): a group already checked in Instagram stays checked. “Withdraw selection” sends exactly that group, as a new click. A stopped interaction run cannot be resumed; start a new one.
Leaving the Instagram tab pauses likes, comments, reposts and story replies. Return to the tab, then choose Resume.
If Chrome closes or your computer goes to sleep, the work stops, Messages included. Resume it from Fantomas when you are back.
“Reset” in a mode returns to step 1 and keeps reports, backups and your session.
Pause, Resume, then Stop during a run; what was sent is kept. Synthetic data.Control
Settings
Settings opens on the removal rhythm, then compatibility, report content, refresh and confirmations.
“Removal rhythm”: Prudent, Standard or Custom, used by default for every run. Each run can change it for itself in “Rhythm of this operation”. Custom sets the delay, the group size, a long break every N removals and an optional daily limit, with advice when a value is riskier. Instagram publishes no limit, so these are guides, not guarantees.
“Compatibility”: the “GraphQL fallback identifier” serves a backup route for messages. Do not change it unless a diagnosis asks you to. “Check activity compatibility” observes Instagram for 45 seconds.
“PDF report content”: choose the sections of your PDF, and whether to include conversation names.
“Keep my footprint updated”: an optional daily refresh, with a pass.
“Confirmations”: confirm before skipping a conversation, “Auto-advance conversations” (with a pass) and “Jump to next chat”, which shows each conversation in the Instagram tab as it is processed.
The language of the panel is chosen at the bottom of the panel: 11 languages.
Prudent, Standard or Custom, the daily limit, then the other settings. Synthetic data.Control
Fantomas Mode
The “Fantomas mode” switch, in the Unsend step, removes the oldest messages first, then works toward the most recent. Included with a pass.
It changes the order only. The same messages are removed.
With a pass, the switch starts off: turn it on when you want it. On Free, it is shown locked and stays off.

Pricing and recommendations
The “Pricing” view opens on the three passes and what every pass includes, then “Find my plan” and “Your cleanup”. It is worked out in the panel; nothing is sent.
Every pass includes every feature. Passes differ by their days and their profiles: the 7-day pass covers 1 Instagram profile, the 14-day pass up to 3 and the 30-day pass up to 5. The 30-day pass is the best value. Each card shows the launch price, the regular price struck through and the price per day.
“Find my plan” asks three quick questions: how many profiles, a rough volume on your biggest profile and the options you want. It suggests a pass, or Free for a small cleanup on one profile with no option.
A pass must cover both your days and your profiles. The days are the volume of your biggest profile divided by 3,000, rounded up: 30,000 messages take about 10 days, so the 14-day pass fits, or the 30-day pass for 4 profiles. Beyond 30 days of work, a second pass will be needed.
“Your cleanup” sums up what Fantomas knows of your messages and how many days ago they were scanned: the count may have grown since. “Tailored for you” appears only after a complete Messages scan. With a count, “Timing” adds an indicative finish date, never guaranteed.
Your number of profiles and the options you want come from the welcome shown the first time; “Find my plan” lets you answer again.
Likes, comments, reposts and story replies are counted when cleaned, never estimated as zero.

Buying a pass
Checkout opens at launch. A pass is paid once, with no subscription and no account.
Checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller. It takes the payment in euros, all taxes included, and emails you the invoice and a license key.
When you activate your key, you tick a box to start your pass now and give up your right of withdrawal. Until then, you can withdraw within 14 days for a full refund.
Nothing renews. When the pass ends, Fantomas goes back to Free. The Pricing page and the terms give the details, refunds included.
Paste the key, tick the box, select Activate: the pass starts. Synthetic data.Free and passes
My pass
“My pass” shows your usage, Free or your pass with its days left, your license key, your Instagram profiles and your data. No account needed.
On Free, “Weekly usage” shows the removals left of 70 this week on the profile open in Instagram, the share used and when it resets: Monday at 00:00 UTC, with the time left. With a pass, “Daily usage” shows what is left of 3,000 today on that profile, reset at midnight UTC.
Paste your license key to activate your pass. Its days start at this first activation, and adding a profile or a browser never restarts them. On Free, “Don’t have one yet? Purchase it here”, under the key field, opens the passes.
The daily limit protects your account: tens of thousands of removals in a single day look unusual to Instagram, so Fantomas spreads a big cleanup over several days.
“Attach this profile” adds the profile open in Instagram. Free covers 1 profile; the 7-day pass covers 1 Instagram profile, the 14-day pass up to 3 and the 30-day pass up to 5. A profile added to a pass stays on it until the pass ends.
Your key works in any of your browsers: a pass counts profiles, not browsers. “Free this browser” only stops the pass in this browser; its days keep running.
You can export what our servers hold, or delete it with “Delete my data on Fantomas” by typing DELETE. Your pass is not lost: the key activates it again. Reports and backups stay in your browser.
“My pass”: Free or your pass, today's removals, profiles and browsers. Synthetic data.Reports
Create a report
Reports are never created automatically. You decide when to make one.
Messages: the “Create report” step, then “Generate my report”, once the unsend has finished or you stopped it.
Interactions: “Create an interaction report” on Home, or “Report” in a mode; choose the categories to include.
If a report of the same operation is already in Reports, Fantomas asks first: “Cancel” or “Create a copy”. After a report, the button waits 3 seconds before another one.
In “Reports”, click a title to open the PDF. Rename or delete a report with its icons, or select several and choose “Delete selected”. With a pass, “Compare selected reports” compares them.
Generating a report, then Reports. Synthetic data.Reports
PDF content
The PDF records counts and results, never the text of your messages or comments. It is stored in the extension, on your device.
Settings offer summary figures, overview charts, deletion charts, the conversation table, scan time and period, and the Whole or Partial mark. Choosing sections comes with a pass; Free receives them all.
Every report shows its status and completion, then confirmed withdrawals, items already absent, exclusions, failures, uncertain results and what was not processed.
@usernames are shown by default. Turn off “Include conversation names” for neutral labels, on Free as with a pass.
For interactions, the report shows “Selected” and “Deleted” by category.

Troubleshooting
When something is unclear, Fantomas stops rather than guesses. Here is what the main messages mean.
“Instagram session not detected”: sign in to Instagram in this Chrome profile. “Reload Instagram to finish connecting”: reload the Instagram tab once.
“Instagram limited this profile”: Fantomas holds every category for that profile. The card shows the end Instagram gave, or when you can resume, 24 hours later. “Resume in Prudent” is your click and nothing restarts on its own. For a security check, complete it in Instagram, then choose “I completed the check”. A pass does not lift a restriction.
“Some results need checking”: a response was lost. For messages, Resume checks those messages before anything else. For interactions, recorded counts are saved and nothing is sent again.
“The connection failed”: check your network. If our server cannot confirm your rights, nothing is removed.
“Attach this profile in My pass to start removing.”: open “My pass” with that profile open in Instagram, then choose “Attach this profile”.
Free removals used up: the 70 of the week come back on Monday at 00:00 UTC. Daily limit reached: a pass allows 3,000 removals a day per profile, to protect your account, back at midnight UTC.
“Keep this Instagram tab visible” or “Instagram must be set to English or French”: fix the tab or the language, then start again.
After an extension update, reopen Instagram with the right profile. For a question about your pass, write to support@fantomas-app.com with your order number.
What Fantomas cannot promise is gathered on the limits page.
The card with its resume date, then a resume in Prudent on your click. Synthetic data.
